The 2026 Texas primary elections mark a pivotal moment in a state where many races are effectively decided long before Election Day. There are more than 18 statewide elected officials up for election, along with Texas’ members of Congress, state legislators, district-based judges and local elected officials.
The morning after March 3rd’s election, join TribCast co-host and Tribune law and politics reporter Eleanor Klibanoff, along with a panel of experts, for an analysis of results from the Senate race, the battles for the Texas Legislature and what races are going to runoffs.

Speakers include James Barragán, anchor of “Capital Tonight” on Spectrum News; Renzo Downey, lead writer of The Blast for The Texas Tribune; Brad Johnson, co-founder and reporter for The Texas Bullpen; and politics reporter Patrick Svitek .
Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. and the hourlong conversation will begin at 11 a.m.
Parking will not be provided. Street and garage parking as well as ride-sharing are recommended.
Coffee and light refreshments will be provided by The Tribune.

James Barragán is the anchor of Capital Tonight, Spectrum News’ statewide politics show. He has covered Texas politics for 10 years with previous stints at the Austin American-Statesman, The Dallas Morning News and The Texas Tribune. James earned his bachelor's degree in History from UCLA and minored in English. In 2024, he was selected as a Nieman fellow for Journalism at Harvard University, where he studied the erosion of democracy in the United States at the state and local levels. His reporting has earned him numerous awards, including nomination as a finalist for The Livingston Award for Young Journalists in 2023 and twice named a finalist for the Toner Prize for Political Reporting.
Downey is the lead writer of The Blast, The Texas Tribune’s premium politics newsletter. Prior to joining the Tribune in February 2023, he worked as a state government and politics reporter and a newsletter editor for Florida Politics. He was previously an intern on the state desk at the Austin American-Statesman.
Eleanor Klibanoff is the law and politics reporter, based in Austin, where she covers the the Texas Legislature, the Office of the Attorney General, state and federal courts and politics writ large. She also co-hosts the weekly politics podcast, TribCast. Eleanor previously spent three years as the Tribune’s women’s health reporter, covering abortion, maternal health and LGBTQ issues. Before coming to Texas, Eleanor worked for the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting, where she reported, hosted and produced the Peabody-nominated podcast, “Dig.” Eleanor was born in Philadelphia and raised in Atlanta, and attended The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
